Taichung Park is the oldest park in Taichung city. Built in the Japanese-ruling era and with a space of 10 acres, the park base at that time was the garden, named Ruixuan and actually donated by the Lin family in Wufeng, together with the old Beimen Building. Taichung Park features many pretty landscapes, such an artificial lake, pavilion, arch bridge, etc. There are also lots of recreational equipments, like outdoor stadium, playground, and tennis court. Some extraordinary European-style building and Houxing Pavilion were constructed in 1908 in celebration of the launch of the Taiwan Railway stretching from north to south in Taiwan. Houxing Pavilion has also been the symbol of Taichung City since the Japanese-ruling era and it’s hence officially declared as a city-designated historical site in 1999.

The Fongjia Night Market is one of Taichungs famous commercial business districts, covering approximately one kilometer in diameter around Fongjia University and includes the Fongjia-Wunhua Night Market, Situn Rd., FengJia Rd., and Fusing Rd. In this CBD, you can find delicious snack foods, quality clothes at reasonable prices to express your unique personality, and the trendiest mobile phones at excellent bargain prices. After the Department of Transportation made great efforts to tackle the parking problems, it has become much easier to park your car or motorcycle at the Fongjia Night Market. Maple GardenNo matter which season it is, walking in the Maple Garden is a visual enjoyment! Located next to Taiwan Boulevard in Taichung City, Maple Garden is a unique U-shaped recreational greenland for the city residents. It has an area of 3 hectares, and contains a lake, red trees, green grass, and observatory bridge. It is a great place for talking a walk, going on a date, and exercising. During the day, there is comforting greenness, and at night, it is filled with sleepless lighting. It has only been opened for half a year, and has rapidly become one of the most famous scenic spots in Taichung

The band shaped city space that is Green Park Road connects the National Museum of Natural Science, Citizens’ Plaza, CMP Park Lane, an arts space, the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts and a food street. The atmosphere changes with each different activity: sometimes bustling, sometimes tranquil, the space sometimes full, sometimes empty, giving the area a natural harmony and flow like that of grass script calligraphy. As the design was based on the concept of finding the Way the writing of ‘grass script’ calligraphy it is also known as the Calligraphy Greenway.

What is most unique about Jingming 1st Street is its comfortable and leisure environment. There are outdoor chairs on the sidewalks, allowing you to rest when tired of shopping. With the aroma of coffee adding to the continental atmosphere, it is the first street in Taichung to be selected as an exemplar street by the Civil Services of Doc, Ministry of Economic Affairs.There are over a hundred boutique-style stores, selling clothes, food, and afternoon tea, etc. The street also features the Emperors Crown Wishing Pond. 57,685 m2 large National Taichung Theater is a large public exhibition and performance space at the 7th Redevelopment Zone, Xitun District, Taichung City, designed by Japanese architect Toyo Ito. The Theater is composed of a large theater, medium theater, small theater, and a small outdoor theater, as well as restaurants and a hanging garden.

It was an eye hopital opened by Takekuma Miyahara during the Japanese occupied period, and it was also once a health center in Taichung, and it was even a ruin until the famous pineapple cake company bought the building and reopened itafter renovating. Although renovated, but it still retains many aspects of the original structure, such as the mottled red brick walls and arches of the old carving. The appearance of the red brick building combined with modern stylish glass at the top is indeed the beauty of conflict. The inside of Miyahara will make you feel like walking in Hogwarts with the high-ceilinged building and rows of cabinets labeled and categorized as libraries; but the books are actually only the appearance of the boxes, which contains pastry and cakes. This site is definitely worth to visit in person.
