Rainbow military housingThe rainbow military housing is in Nantun, Taichung. One of the retired soldiers paints on the wall with paints. However, the housing is facing problem of dismantling for the government’s city plan. There are over 3 thousands of people supporting the rainbow military housing in only 2 days. The retired soldiers started to paint since September, 2008. He paints his dream out on the wall and brings a new life to the military housing. As a result, many people call him Grandpa Rainbow. The spot attracts many people on weekends. The city government declared that the painting is worth to preserve and they will modify their city plan

57,685 m2 large National Taichung Theater is a large public exhibition and performance space at the 7th Redevelopment Zone, Xitun District, Taichung City, designed by Japanese architect Toyo Ito. The Theater is composed of a large theater, medium theater, small theater, and a small outdoor theater, as well as restaurants and a hanging garden.

It was an eye hopital opened by Takekuma Miyahara during the Japanese occupied period, and it was also once a health center in Taichung, and it was even a ruin until the famous pineapple cake company bought the building and reopened itafter renovating. Although renovated, but it still retains many aspects of the original structure, such as the mottled red brick walls and arches of the old carving. Gaomei was called Gaomi in the Qing Dynasty and was renamed during the Japanese occupation. The wetlands here are over 300 hectares, but the area is only 1/10 of Dadu River wetlands. The geography is divided into 7 categories, which results in diversified organisms in this area. Gaomei Wetlands is one of the few places that have wild ducks.
